Cabinet Nods For Odisha Nursing Education Service Rules 2025

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has approved the proposal for framing the “Odisha Nursing Education Service (Method of Recruitment and Conditions of Service) Rules, 2025” in a cabinet meeting held today. This decision aims to establish a standardized recruitment process for nursing faculties in government colleges and ANM training centres across the state.

Currently, Odisha has eight government colleges of nursing and 21 ANM training centres, with seven new nursing colleges being set up in collaboration with medical colleges and hospitals under a centrally sponsored scheme. However, the lack of specific recruitment rules has hindered the hiring process for faculty positions in these institutions.

The new rules will prescribe the method of recruitment for base-level posts, such as tutors, and promotions to higher posts. This will enable the filling of vacant teaching positions, promote eligible faculty members, and strengthen nursing education in Odisha.

With this development, the state government aims to improve the quality of nursing education and address the growing demand for skilled healthcare professionals. The Directorate of Nursing, established in 2013, plays a pivotal role in managing nursing and midwifery practices, providing primary healthcare, and reducing maternal and child mortality rates in the state.
