Bhubaneswar: The State Cabinet today approved a proposal to further amend the Odisha (Non-Government Colleges, Junior Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools) Grant-in-Aid Order, 2014
The issue of determining “Educationally Backward District” on the basis of Census 2001 where there is less than 50 percent of literacy rate instead of Census 2011 is submitted for consideration under the Odisha (Non-Government Colleges, Junior Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools) Grant-in-Aid in the shape of Block Grant Order, 2014.
After careful consideration of the above proposal, the Chief Minister gave his consent for placing it before the State Cabinet for taking 2001 Census instead of 2011 Census to assess on the Educationally Backward Districts (EBD) for eligibility under GIA Order, 2014.
Approximately nine teaching and non-teaching employees will be benefited and there will be an additional annual financial implication of Rs.5.15 Crores.
