Bhubaneswar: Campuses across Odisha colleges and universities are buzzing with activities as the nomination process for student union elections begins today.
As per reports, the filing of nomination papers for various posts will be held from 10 am to 1 pm. Scrutiny will be done from 2 pm to 4 pm, followed by the publication of the final list of valid candidates at 5 pm.
Significantly, student politics is returning to colleges and universities in the state after a gap of eight years. The elections will be held on October 15.Regular student union elections had remained suspended since 2017 due to campus violence, clashes and concerns over disruption of the academic environment.
With elections returning, enthusiasm is visible among students. However, conducting the polls peacefully remains a major challenge for the concerned authorities, who have tightened security arrangements to prevent any untoward incident during nominations.
