Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment scam case is set to be handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), announced Crime Branch Director General Vinaytosh Mishra today.
Talking to media about the latest development in the SI recruitment scam, Mishra stated that the case will be formally transferred to the CBI, allowing their officials to take over the investigation.
“The government has decided to hand over the case to the CBI due to its inter-state ramifications, which will enable a more effective investigation,” he said.
Mishra confirmed that all updated case files and evidence will be handed over to the CBI once they take charge of the investigation stating that “The Crime Branch will extend its full cooperation and share details of inter-state connections related to the case, as the CBI is better positioned to handle investigations with multi-state implications. When CBI officials come, we will hand over the case and they will then carry forward the investigation.”
That apart, Mishra made it clear that the Crime Branch will only share information based on evidence gathered, avoiding assumptions that could potentially compromise the case. “We have shared information with the media based on evidence collected so far and will continue to do so as new evidence emerges,” he added.
