Bhubaneswar: Popular Ollywood singer Humane Sagar and his estranged wife Shriya Mishra attended a counselling session at the Mahila Police station in Cuttack on Thursday following Cuttack DCP Pinak Mishra’s directive to the couple in this connection.
It is pertinent to mention here that Shriya met the Cuttack DCP on Wednesday and complained that Humane has been neglecting her for the past few months and torturing her physically as well as mentally. On his part, DCP Mishra directed the Mahila Police to probe into the allegations and asked Humane and Shriya to appear at the Mahila Police Station on Thursday for questioning as well as counselling.
The couple was scheduled to attend the counselling at 10.30 am today but both arrived around noon. While Humane came to the police station alone, Shriya was accompanied by her father and lawyer. Till the time of filing this report, both were at the police station and were being interrogated by the DCP and Mahila Police Station IIC.
Before attending the counselling session, Humane told the media that he had received a call from the IIC of Mahila Police Station, informing him about the complaint filed by his wife, and being a law-abiding citizen, he is responding to the summon. “I am not aware of the allegations. I will definitely present my case,” he said. Shriya, however, did not speak to the media.
On the other hand, Shriya’s father alleged, “My daughter has been suffering a lot because of Humane’s apathy and torture. Humane used to often come home drunken dead in the night and torture my daughter physically when she objected. He also tortured my daughter for dowry.”
Saying that he did not want Shriya, who is currently staying with her parents in Balasore, to return to Humane, her father said, “We don’t want any kind of compromise. I want my daughter to divorce Humane.”
Shreya’s lawyer made a startling allegation against Humane. “Humane is a tribal Christian, while Shreya is a Hindu. For quite some time Humane was forcing her to convert to Christianity. This led to friction between the two and Shreya suffered immense mental agony.”
Till the time of filing this report, it was not known what advice the police offered the couple and whether there was any chance of reconciliation between Shriya and Humane.
