Kataka: An orientation programme for around 80 newly inducted Sub-Inspectors from seven districts under the Central Range was held here on Sunday to familiarise them with contemporary policing, emerging challenges and professional responsibilities.
Organised by the Office of the Inspector General of Police, Central Range, at the Padhee Memorial Hall of the IPS Officers’ Mess, the programme was conducted under the guidance of Odisha DGP (HoPF) Vinaytosh Mishra.
IGP, Central Range, Satyajit Naik, who attended as the chief guest, urged the newly inducted officers to maintain discipline, professional integrity and sensitivity towards citizens while strictly adhering to the rule of law.
DIG, Crime Branch, Madkar Sandeep Sampat, who attended as the guest of honour, spoke on contemporary cybercrime, highlighting emerging forms of technology-enabled offences and the need for technological awareness and investigative capabilities among police personnel.
Ram Kishore Sharma, National Career Services and former Head, NCDS, Government of India, interacted with the officers on professional development, workplace challenges and career responsibilities.
Senior police officers, including SPs of Khordha, Puri, Kataka, Kendrapara, Nayagada and Jagatsinghpur, also shared their field experiences and provided guidance on policing, leadership and professional conduct.
The participating Sub-Inspectors were from Jajpur, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Kataka, Puri, Khordha and Nayagada districts.
The programme concluded with an emphasis on professional excellence, ethical conduct, technological preparedness, citizen-centric policing and commitment to justice and public service.
