Bhubaneswar: A central team is likely to visit Odisha on November 2 to assess the damage caused by Cyclone Arnab, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said.
The team is expected to tour cyclone-affected areas and assess the extent of damage to houses, roads, agricultural land and other infrastructure.
Cyclone Arnab triggered heavy rainfall and strong winds across several districts of the state, causing widespread damage. Crops have been damaged in several areas, while houses have collapsed at some places and road connectivity has also been disrupted.
The proposed visit assumes significance as the central team will assess the extent of damage, including agricultural losses and infrastructure destruction, and collect district-wise data to determine the assistance required.
The team’s assessment report is expected to provide a clearer picture of the losses suffered by the state and help facilitate further steps towards securing central assistance for cyclone-affected people.
