Bhubaneswar: The Central Government is set to dispatch a 14-member team to Jajpur district to assess the on-ground situation following a recent outbreak of diarrhoea, informed State Public Health Director Dr. Nilakantha Mishra on Saturday.
“The Central team is expected to visit the affected areas shortly. Meanwhile, a joint team from the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the Odisha Health Department is already closely monitoring the situation,” Dr. Mishra said.
Providing an update on the testing status, Dr. Mishra informed that of the 200 samples collected, 11 have tested positive for Vibrio cholera.
He added that thanks to the coordinated efforts of the district administration and health officials, the number of new cases has not seen a significant increase.
“Many of the previously admitted patients have been discharged and are recovering at home. Additionally, the inflow of patients from the Korei, Jajpur Road, and Dharmasala blocks has notably declined,” he stated.
At present, 213 patients are undergoing treatment for diarrhoea at the Jajpur District Headquarters Hospital (DHH). A special control room has been established at the hospital to facilitate round-the-clock monitoring of the situation.
