Bhubaneswar: With a few hours left for the Phase IV Odisha elections, Chief Electoral Officer Nikunja Bihari Dhal on Friday restricted the broadcast of any election material through television or other medium of communication.
CEO issued a release in this regard.
“Since the last phase of the polls is scheduled on June 1, 2024, no election material can be displayed to the public by means of television, cinematograph or other similar apparatus during the silence period which commenced at 6 PM dtd. 30-05-2024”, read the release.
As per the ECI decision, there will be a ban on the broadcast of any election-related material through television, cinematograph or other similar communication medium. This restriction will remain in effect for a period up to 48 hours before the end of polling in any polling area. No person shall show any election matter to the public through the medium of cinematograph, television or other similar equipment. For violating these provisions, the guilty person can be punished with imprisonment of up to two years or fine or both.
