Bhubaneswar: The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) has taken cognisance of a misleading photo of a prominent national party leader and an elected MLA circulating on social media. The photo, posted by an individual, has been verified as false and AI-generated.

The CEO has urged citizens to refrain from forwarding such misleading information, warning that it can impact the free and fair election process. “We are taking action with utmost seriousness,” said the CEO.

With the Nuapada Assembly by-election scheduled for November 11, the CEO emphasises the importance of verifying election-related information before sharing it. “Use social media with caution and stay safe,” the CEO appealed.

The CEO seeks cooperation from citizens to ensure a free, fair, and impartial election, and requests refraining from spreading false information and photos.
