Chhattisgarh Cadre Hardcore Maoist Surrenders Before Bolangir Police

Bhubaneswar: A hardcore Maoist today shun violence and returned to mainstream in Bolangiri district.

The Chhattisgarh cadre naxal Somnath Achela surrendered before Balangir police. Somnath is a resident of Kanker area of Chhattisgarh.

He was known as Mahesh in the outlawed organisation in Chhattisgarh.

He was a naxal in the rank of Area Committee Member (ACM) of Bolangir, Bargarh and Mahasamund (BBM) division of the CPI (Maoist).

For the past 14 years, Somnath had been working as an area  commander in the Maoist organisation. He was involved in multiple Naxal violence in Odisha and Chhattisgarh.

He will be rehabilitated as per the government policy applicable for Maoists who join the mainstream
