Bhubaneswar: A chicken shop owner was killed and his son critically injured in a violent attack allegedly triggered by previous enmity at Jena Sahi under Bhadrak rural police station limits.
The incident occurred yesterday night during the Ganesh immersion at Jena Sahi under Randia Panchayat.
According to reports, a group of assailants attacked Laxmidhar Jena, the chicken shop owner, and his son Parshuram Jena using glass bottles and sharp weapons. Laxmidhar succumbed to his injuries, while his son Parshuram sustained serious wounds.
As Laxmidhar’s son condition became critical, he was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Kataka for advanced treatment.
It is learnt that Laxmidhar Jena had earlier been involved in a dispute with some local people.
Rural police reached the spot after receiving information about the attack and have launched an investigation. Police have arrested four persons in this connection.
