Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg chaired a high-level review meeting on Monday at Lok Seva Bhawan to fast-track investment proposals received during the recent Odisha Investors’ Summit and Road Show in Gujarat.
The summit and road show, held from May 5 to 7 in Ahmedabad, Mundra, and Vadodara, generated strong investor interest, with 71 project proposals worth Rs 48,330 crore being submitted. These projects are expected to create 67,838 jobs in the state. The proposals include 8 MoUs worth Rs 11,300 crore and 63 Investment Intent Forms worth Rs 37,030 crore.
Senior officials who participated in the meeting included Industries Department Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma, Principal Secretary of Commerce and Transport Department, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of Handlooms, Textiles & Handicrafts Department, IDCO Managing Director, Directors of Textiles, Handicrafts, and Electronics, along with senior officials from IT and IDCO departments.
The meeting focused on creating an investor-friendly ecosystem and ensuring timely implementation of projects. Discussions were held with IPICOL and IDCO authorities to prepare a clear roadmap for project execution. Emphasis was placed on approving projects within the stipulated timeframe through the state’s Single Window System.
Officials were directed to examine and strengthen facilities and infrastructure for proposed investments in the port and related sectors in the Dhamra region. Given the strong momentum in the Lab-Grown Diamond sector, the government will expedite land allocation and location finalization for received MoUs and applications. Priority will be given to major Lab-Grown Diamond units and their supporting industries.
After detailed discussions regarding other proposed sectors and project implementation, the Chief Secretary issued necessary directions for smooth execution. The state government has reiterated its strong commitment to providing a conducive environment for investors and ensuring that the proposed investments translate into actual industrial growth and employment generation in Odisha.
