Koraput: Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mahapatra on Saturday reviewed the progress of the Bharatmala Pariyojana in Koraput district.
Under the project, at least 245 km of the existing road in Koraput and Nabarangpur districts are to be developed into four lanes with state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI).
The project is meant to connect Raipur in Chhattisgarh to Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh. It happens to be the first road in Odisha to have a six-lane tunnel in Pottangi. Several features of the project include complete access control and improved connectivity between several Economic Hubs, and industries like HAL and NALCO.
Chief Secretary stressed upon completion of the first phase of work before the onset of monsoon, has directed to disburse all compensation amount to the beneficiaries and that the land be handed over immediately. He expressed his overall satisfaction with the project.
