Child Allegedly Sold By His Father For Rs 5,000 Rescued By Police In Cuttack’s Niali

Cuttack: A child, who was allegedly sold by his father at just Rs 5,000 in Niali area of Cuttack, was rescued by police today.

According to reports, the father sold the boy last Tuesday. The middle man who brought the child from his father abandoned him at Balipatna. On being informed, the police rescued him.

Sukant Singh of Munda Sahi under Niali police station area had allegedly sold his minor son to a middleman. The incident was reported in media based on which the child welfare committee and police started an investigation.

A local social activist also lodged a complaint at Niali police station in this connection.

Meanwhile, the accused father Sukant Singh has confessed to his crime before the police. He also identified his son.

Locals alleged that a racket is operating behind the incident.
