Cuttack: A childless American couple-David and his wife Anna adopted a six-year-old girl child at a special function organised at the District Collector’s office here today.
The girl child was given up for adoption by Basundhara, a voluntary organisation based in Bidanasi here.
Cuttack Collector Bhabani Shankar Chayani handed over the child to the couple after completing all legal formalities.
David and Anna expressed their joy after adopting the child.
The couple had expressed the desire to adopt a child and had been in waiting for a long period of time.
Office bearers of various voluntary organisations and officials of the Women and Child Development Department attended the function.
