Bhubaneswar: Migratory birds from various regions are beginning their journey to Chilika, India’s largest waterbird habitat in Odisha, ahead of winter.
From ducks and flamingos to glossy ibises and Eurasian wigeons, Chilika is now home to a stunning variety of migratory birds.
According to reports, these birds mainly come from remote areas in Russia, the Caspian region, Siberia, and Kazakhstan, as well as regions beyond the Himalayas in Northern Eurasia. Each year, they visit Chilika and start their journey back home before summer arrives.
This year, the arrival of these beautiful feathered guests has come a bit earlier than usual. The early onset of winter in their native habitats is believed to have prompted them to travel millions of kilometers to Chilika. Their arrival has brought joy to bird lovers everywhere.
