Chintan Shivir Lays Out Way Forward For ABDM & ABPMJAY

Bhubaneswar: Two-day Chintan Shivir hosted by Odisha at the capital city of Bhubaneswar was concluded today afternoon with Chief Secretary Anu Garg giving the valedictory address.

Addressing the Shivir,  Garg said “Good governance in health sector should aim at facilitating the ease of treatment for the last person in line”. She added, “when a diseased person goes to hospital, he/she gets bothered about where to go, how to get the name registered quickly, which doctor to be consulted, where to give samples for pathological tests, when the reports will be available, and whether it would be possible to show test reports to the doctor during OPD hours on that day. We should develop a system to reduce these worries of the patients with proper facilitation mechanism through application of technology and AI”.

In this session, performance based National Health Authority ( NHA) Awards were declared out of which two awards  came to Odisha. Chief Secretary Garg presented the awards and mementos. Uttar Pradesh, Daman and Diu, Mizoram, Chandigarh, Madhya Pradesh, Telengana and Andaman & Nicobar   got awards for  best practices on different indicators in ABPMJAY.

Odisha was awarded for best performance in generation and distribution of  co-branded ABPMJAY-GJAY cards to the beneficiaries. Within a short period of 9 months, Odisha has generated 3.46 cr cards  for the beneficiaries. Similarly, 5 awards and prizes were given for best performance in Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission ( ABDM). Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Odisha,  and Gujarat received these awards from Chief Secretary Garg. AIIMS Bhubaneswar was awarded for best performance in digital health record linking.

In these 2-days of the Shivir, around 25 major dimensions of ABPMJAY and ABDM were presented and detail discussions were held by national experts through sharing of ideas and field experiences. Mostly,   the topics like key performance indicators of ABPMJAY and ABDM, time target for pre-auth approval in interest of the patients at the time of admission in hospitals, pharmacy and drug registry, strategies and benefits of adopting ABDM, tools for prevention of possible fraud, methods for timely settlement of claims raised by empaneled hospitals, getting NABH certification and benefits thereof  for the hospitals, application of AI tools for analysis of  healthcare dynamics and health service delivery, the methods and challenges in adoption of AI in healthcare figured in deliberations.

Chief Executive Officer NHA  Sunil Kumar Barnwal in his address complimented Odisha for having set a high benchmark and model in quality of arranging national level chintan Shivir. He emphasized on creation of digital data both in public and private sector health facilities for an informed decision making.

Principal Secretary Health  Rajasthan Gayatri Rathore, Principal Secretary Health Meghalaya Sampath Kumar, Secretary Health and Family Welfare Odisha Smt Aswathy S., CEO State Health Assurance Society Dr Brundha D. along with senior officers from NHA, 27 states and 7 territories participated in the deliberations.

Samuel V Pachuau, Joint Secretary NHA presented the vote of thanks.
