Bhubaneswar: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) posted at Chitrada outpost under Morada police station in Mayurbhanj district has been suspended following allegations of close links with the liquor mafia.
As per reports, ASI Bhimasen Mallick was placed under suspension on charges of negligence in duty and irregularity in performing his responsibilities. The action was taken by Mayurbhanj Superintendent of Police (SP) Varun Guntupalli.
The development came after an audio clip allegedly indicating the outpost officer’s connection with liquor mafia operating in the Chitrada area went viral. Following the circulation of the audio, police initiated an inquiry. Based on the findings of the investigation, the ASI was suspended.
