Bhubaneswar: The Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) has announced that the Annual Higher Secondary Improvement Examination-2026 and the Instant Examination will be conducted on July 3 and 4.
The council has fixed the examination fees at Rs 800 for the Improvement Examination and Rs 600 for the Instant Examination.
This is the first time CHSE will conduct an Improvement Examination for Class XII students of the state board, allowing them to improve their performance in one subject. The Instant Examination, meanwhile, has been conducted annually for students who fail in one subject.
According to an official notification, regular students of the 2024–25 academic session from Arts, Commerce, Science and Vocational Education streams, as well as distance education students who have cleared the Annual Higher Secondary Examination, are eligible to appear for the Improvement Examination.
Eligible students can appear for the Improvement Examination in one theory subject from compulsory, elective or trade subjects.
Students who have secured passing marks with an aggregate of 210 marks but have failed in, or remained absent from, one paper (theory or practical component) in the annual examination are eligible to appear for the Instant Examination in either theory or practical subjects.
