Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Police Crime Branch has arrested the prime accused in connection with the sensational murder case that occurred on May 7, in the Bhingarpur-Kaja area under Balianta police limits.
The main accused has been identified as Pradeep Managaraj alias Dipu (46), son of Late Pratap Chandra Mangaraj of Benupur under Balianta Police Station.
According to a release issued by the CID Crime Branch today, Dipu was apprehended from Dhenkanal last night, based on strong evidence gathered during the investigation. The accused has been booked under Sections 103(1) and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023.
Investigation has established the involvement of the arrested accused in the assault on the deceased. With this arrest, the total number of persons arrested in the case has reached 18.
The Crime Branch has stated that the investigation is progressing on a priority basis and efforts are underway to trace and arrest the remaining accused involved in the incident.
