Cuttack: The Commissionerate Police today held a preparatory meeting for the Durga Puja and immersion festival at Jawahar Lal Nehru Indore Stadium in Cuttack in the presence of all the senior police officers.
The meeting was presided over by twin city police commissioner S. Dev Datta Singh in the presence of DCP Jagmohan Meena.
The meeting emphasised on liquor-free and disciplined immersion festival. The Commissioner of Police said that Police Mitra will be deployed for the first time in the immersion ceremony. Police Mitra has been appointed in 174 mandaps in the city. As many as 300 Police Mitra will be appointed. Two police Mitras will be deployed at each Mandap.
The meeting focused on traffic management during Puja.
This year, 70 platoons of police force and more than 200 police officers have been deployed in Cuttack city for Durga Puja and immersion of idols. 24-hour control rooms will be opened at various places in the city and CCTV cameras have been installed in various mandas to keep a watch on anti-social elements.
