Bolangir: A complaint alleging the gang rape of a Class 9 minor girl has surfaced from the Tureikela police station limits in Odisha’s Bolangir district, prompting police action and an investigation.
According to the complaint, the minor girl was allegedly sexually assaulted by a group that included her classmates. Acting on the complaint, police have detained five minor boys, all classmates of the victim, along with one youth, and have initiated further investigation into the matter.
The incident came to light after a video purportedly involving the minor girl went viral, raising serious concerns. Following the circulation of the video, a relative of the girl approached the Bolangir Superintendent of Police (SP) and lodged a formal complaint, based on which police registered the case.
Police officials said the matter is being investigated from all angles, keeping in mind the sensitive nature of the case and the fact that the victim is a minor.
