Class IX Student Drowns In Kharasrota River in Jajpur

Bhubaneswar: A 15-year-old student drowned in the Kharasrota River in Jajpur district’s Kuakhia block on Saturday.

According to reports, Sai Sarathi Kantha, a Class IX student of Mugpal High School, had accompanied his friends to the riverbank, allegedly to bathe, while on their way to school. The incident occurred near the Bahadalapur village.

The Kuakhia fire station received the distress call, and personnel rushed to the scene, retrieving the boy’s body from the river. He was taken to the local Madhuban Community Health Centre, where he was declared dead.

The deceased was identified as the son of Rajendra Kantha, a resident of Baransh village under Mugpal panchayat. The incident has left the community in shock, with locals mourning the loss of the young student.
