Nabarangapur: A Class VIII student was found hanging inside the hostel of Bhamini Ashram School under Umerkote block in Nabarangapur district on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Prashant Bhatra, son of Parameswar Bhatra from Badakumari village. He had joined the hostel just two days ago.
According to reports, Prashant’s body was found hanging inside the hostel today morning. The exact cause of death is yet to be ascertained, though police suspect it could be a case of suicide.
Upon being informed, police reached the spot, recovered the body and have initiated an investigation. He had returned from his home only two days. However, the sudden recovery of his hanging body today has left everyone shocked.
Local residents have expressed doubt over how the hostel warden and the headmaster remained unaware of the boy’s condition or distress when he allegedly took his own life.
Further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances leading to the tragic incident.
