Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Monday arrested Dhruba Charan Sahu, a clerk-cum-accountant at Lakhanpur Primary Agricultural Credit Society (PACS) in Bargarh district, in connection with a loan fraud case amounting to more than Rs. 31 lakhs.
According to an official press release, Dhruba Charan Sahu was arrested for embezzling a sum of Rs. 31,47,685.
He allegedly failed to deposit the collected loan repayment amounts and abused his official position to manipulate the Society’s records. Sahu was found to have deliberately altered the Day Book entries, showing a lower closing balance for the financial year 2019-20.
Following the arrest, Sahu has been forwarded to the Court of the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bargarh.
An investigation into the matter has been initiated, with a case registered under Sambalpur Vigilance PS Case No. 2, dated March 17, 2025, under Section 13(2) read with 13(1)(a) of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
The investigation is currently ongoing.
