CM Announces Rs 4 Lakh Ex-Gratia For Kin Of Persons Killed In Lightning Strikes

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has announced payment of Rs 4 lakh ex-gratia each to the next of kin of the nine persons killed in lightning strikes across the State on Saturday.

Besides, the treatment expenses of those injured in the lightning strikes will borne by the State government, the Chief Minister said, the I&PR department informed in a post on X.

Nine persons were killed in lightning strikes in six districts of the State while several have been injured.

Expressing deep grief over the tragic deaths, the Chief Minister has extended his sympathies to the bereaved families.

While two persons each have died in lightning strikes in Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak districts, one each has died in the districts of Keonjhar, Dhenkanal and Ganjam districts.
