CM Expresses Deep Grief Over Former Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro’s Demise

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has expressed deep grief over the sudden demise of former Odisha Assembly Speaker Surjya Narayan Patro.

In a condolence message, the Chief Minister described Patro as an efficient administrator and organiser.

As minister of various departments, he facilitated the development process of the state. As Speaker, he played an important role in keeping the parliamentary tradition intact in Odisha.

The Chief Minister said that Patro was loved by everyone irrespective of party and opinion for his amiable nature.

As a senior leader of Biju Janata Dal he had given a new direction to the party. The Chief Minister stated that he had a significant role in strengthening the party, especially in Ganjam.

His demise has created a big void in the State’s politics, he said.

Praying for the departed soul’s salvation, the Chief Minister expressed his deep sympathies for the bereaved family.
