Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 10 lakh each to the next of kin of the two police personnel who lost their lives in a tragic road accident at Gati Routpatna on the Cuttack-Paradip highway.
Expressing deep sorrow over the untimely demise of the officers, the Chief Minister conveyed his heartfelt condolences to their families.
The announcement was made through a post by the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO Odisha) on X (formerly Twitter).

The deceased police personnel have been identified as Jagannath Mahali and Lokanath Shabar.
The incident took place when a sand-laden truck collided with a PCR van from the C.R.R.I. police station near Gati Routpatna.
The body of the deceased was sent for a post-mortem examination earlier today. Following the procedure, the body was brought to Mangalabag police station, where senior police officials, including Cuttack DCP Khilari Rishikesh Dnyandeo, were present.
As a mark of respect, the police personnel paid tribute by offering a guard of honour to the deceased, in a solemn and dignified ceremony held at the station premises.
