Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh each to next of kin of three members of a family killed in landslide at Dangesi village under Raikia block in Kandhamal district on Thursday.
“On learning about tragic loss of life of couple Achyut Pradhan, Anisha Pradhan and their child of Dangesi village, Raikia block, Kandhamal district, Chief Minister expressed deep grief and condolences to bereaved family. Along with this, he announced financial assistance of Rs 4 lakhs from CMRF to next of kin of each deceased,” CMO posted on X.
The victims Achyuta Pradhan, his wife Anisha Pradhan and their nine-month-old child were buried under debris when landslide triggered by heavy rainfall in aftermath of Cyclone Arnab hit nearby hill burying their house.
Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik, who is also in-charge of Kandhamal, confirmed deaths. Several other villagers feared missing. Rescue operations underway to trace those trapped.
