Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed deep grief over the tragic road accident in Ganjam district that claimed six lives and announced financial assistance from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).
The Chief Minister has sanctioned Rs 4 lakh each to the next of kin of the six deceased. He has also directed the administration to ensure the best possible medical treatment for the injured persons and wished for their speedy recovery.
It is pertinent six persons were killed on the spot when a speeding passenger bus rammed into an auto-rickshaw and dragged it for nearly 100 metres at Ladkapalli Square under Purusottampur Police Station in Ganjam district.
The ill-fated auto-rickshaw was reportedly carrying 10 members of a single family on their way to Maa Singhasini temple when the tragedy occurred. The bus allegedly lost control due to high speed and collided with the auto, resulting in the fatal accident. The bus fled the spot after the collision.
