Bhubaneswar: In a significant move aimed at strengthening the state’s police force, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday approved a proposal for the creation of 2,500 new Home Guard posts.
According to an official press release, the state currently has 17,675 Home Guards. With the addition of these 2,500 new posts, the total number of Home Guard positions will increase to 20,175.
The Chief Minister had earlier announced plans to enhance the police force by increasing the number of posts in the state’s law enforcement agencies.
In addition, Majhi revealed that approximately 12,000 new positions would be created across various branches of the state police department.
