Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has assured the family of former minister Naba Das that a proper investigation will be conducted into his murder and the real culprit will be punished as per the law.
Das’ wife, Minati Das, met the Chief Minister at Lok Seva Bhawan and discussed the investigation into her husband’s murder, accompanied by her daughter, Deepali Das, and son, Bisal Das.
The Chief Minister condemned the incident, saying it was “very sad and condemnable.” He assured the family that the government would re-examine all aspects of the case and take exemplary action against the culprit. Majhi advised Minati Das to cooperate with the investigating agency and assured her that she could personally inform him of any developments, a release from the CMO said.
Minati Das and her family thanked the Chief Minister for meeting them personally and assuring them of justice. After the meeting, Deepali Das told the media that they had requested the Chief Minister to order a CBI probe into her father’s murder. “We hope the Chief Minister will consider our demand and order an impartial investigation,” she added.
Former Minister Naba Das was shot dead by a police ASI, Gopal Das, at Brajrajnagar in Jharsuguda on January 29, 2023.
