Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi conducted an aerial survey of the rain-affected areas in Malkangiri district today and assessed the damage caused by heavy rains.
He then chaired a review meeting at the local Zilla Parishad conference room and directed the District Collector to submit a comprehensive damage report within seven days.
CM Majhi emphasized the need for immediate assistance to affected households and prioritized electricity restoration. He ensured that no affected person is deprived of government aid and advised providing clean drinking water to prevent waterborne diseases.
The Chief Minister commended the district administration and police for achieving zero casualties due to their preparedness. He mentioned that weather alerts were regularly sent to concerned districts based on Meteorological Department information, and the situation was monitored 24/7 from the State Emergency Operation Centre.
Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, who attended the meeting, praised ODRAF and Fire Department personnel for their services and assured that damages would be assessed and compensated according to the Odisha Relief Code.
The meeting was attended by Nabarangpur MP Balabhadra Majhi, Malkangiri MLA Narasingh Madkami, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, and other officials. The District Collector presented a detailed report on the district administration’s preparations to tackle the heavy rains, which were caused by a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal on September 9 and 10.
