Puri: One youth was killed and another sustained serious injuries after a Court Escort Van collided with a motorcycle on the Puri-Konark Road near Baliguali on Monday, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Kuna Behera of the Puri Sadar police station area, while the injured youth, Sujit Sahu, is undergoing treatment at a hospital.
According to preliminary information, the two youths were travelling towards Konark on a motorcycle when the accident occurred. Following the collision, a Police Control Room (PCR) van rushed to the spot and rescued the victims.
Both injured persons were immediately shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Puri. However, doctors declared Kuna Behera dead upon arrival. Sujit Sahu, who sustained serious injuries, is currently under medical care.
Police have launched an investigation into the incident and said the exact cause of the accident will be determined after a detailed probe.
