Bhubaneswar: On the occasion of World Water Day, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo urged citizens to prioritise water conservation and make it a widespread movement to build a prosperous state.

In his message, Chief Minister Majhi extended heartfelt greetings and emphasized water’s vital role as the essence of life. He highlighted the responsibility of every individual to protect and wisely use this precious resource.”Water is life and it is the duty of all of us to protect and properly utilize this precious natural resource,” Majhi said.

He noted the state’s ongoing efforts under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, including the Jal Jeevan Mission, which aims to deliver clean piped drinking water to every village and household. Additionally, initiatives like empowering Pani Panchayats and launching new irrigation projects are focused on supporting farmers and enhancing agricultural productivity.

Majhi appealed for unity: “Let us make a collective effort towards building a ‘Prosperous Odisha’ by turning water conservation into a mass movement.”

Deputy Chief Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo echoed similar sentiments, stressing the need to safeguard water as the foundation of health, prosperity, and harmony. In his post on X, he described this year’s theme — aligned with global discussions around water’s role in peace and equity — as a broader call to action.

“On this World Water Day, let’s reaffirm our commitment to safeguarding our most precious resource—water. I believe that “Water for Peace” is not just this year’s theme, but a call to action for all of us,” Singh Deo wrote. He advocated for conserving, sharing, and protecting rivers and groundwater to ensure future generations inherit a united Odisha where water fosters progress rather than division.

“Odisha’s strength lies in its people and its natural wealth. By working collectively, we can ensure that every drop counts—for peace, for progress, and for life,” he added.
