Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday expressed pride over the state receiving national recognition under the “Connecting Maximum Habitations” category during the Silver Jubilee celebrations of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
Odisha secured third place for its performance in expanding rural road connectivity, an achievement acknowledged as part of the 25-year milestone celebration of the flagship rural infrastructure programme.
In his reaction, the Chief Minister said the recognition reflects Odisha’s consistent progress in strengthening rural infrastructure and improving connectivity in remote and underserved regions. He credited the achievement to the special focus of Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Odisha’s development and the sustained support of the Central Government.
“This recognition is a result of coordinated efforts and a shared vision for rural transformation,” Majhi said, adding that Odisha remains committed to ensuring last-mile connectivity across all regions through effective implementation of centrally sponsored schemes.
The official citation stated that the State of Odisha was awarded third place for outstanding performance in connecting the maximum number of habitations under PMGSY. The award recognised the state’s contribution towards rural connectivity, infrastructure development, and sustained commitment to excellence.
The Chief Minister also congratulated engineers, departmental officials, and field-level workers involved in the execution of the programme. He appreciated their role in ensuring timely implementation of rural road projects across the state.
Highlighting cooperative governance, Majhi said the combined efforts of the Centre and State Governments are laying a strong foundation for building a developed and prosperous Odisha.
