Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Tuesday felicitated Indian Idol Season 16 winner Jyotirmayee Nayak at his official residence and announced a cash reward of ₹5 lakh in recognition of her achievement at the national level.
During the meeting, Jyotirmayee presented the Indian Idol trophy to the Chief Minister and shared her journey in the competition, highlighting the hard work, dedication and perseverance that led to her victory.
Congratulating the singer, Majhi said Jyotirmayee had brought pride to Odisha by emerging as the winner of one of the country’s most prestigious singing competitions. He said that with the blessings of Lord Jagannath, her exceptional talent, relentless practice and commitment had earned her national recognition, making her a source of inspiration for aspiring singers across the state.
The Chief Minister also praised Jyotirmayee for extending her musical talent beyond the stage through music therapy for patients in several cancer hospitals in Odisha. He said her efforts to use music to comfort patients reflected a rare blend of artistic excellence and social commitment.
Describing her as a “youth icon” for Odisha and the nation, Majhi expressed confidence that her initiative of integrating music into patient care would inspire similar efforts in the future. He added that the dedication and achievements of young talents like Jyotirmayee would contribute to the vision of a prosperous Odisha and a developed India.
The Chief Minister thanked the people of Odisha for supporting Jyotirmayee throughout her Indian Idol journey, saying her victory had become a matter of pride for the entire state and further strengthened Odisha’s presence on the national cultural stage.
Jyotirmayee was accompanied by her parents, Chakradhar Nayak and Gauri Nayak, during the felicitation ceremony.
