Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday attended the closing ceremony of the Odisha Industry Summit 2025, organised by Laghu Udyog Bharati (LUB) at Rail Sadan, Bhubaneswar. Speaking at the event, he emphasised the crucial role of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in driving industrialisation, innovation, and employment in the state.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said, “Odisha, a state full of immense potential, has emerged as one of the most attractive destinations in India for MSMEs. This progress is a result of our government’s commitment to fulfilling the aspirations of Odisha’s 4.5 crore residents.” He highlighted recent reforms under the “Go Swift” single-window system, which now approves industrial projects in a day, compared to the earlier timeline of a month. Majhi also pointed out that 6.1 percent of the state’s GDP has been invested in infrastructure this year—the highest in the country.

CM Majhi

The Chief Minister praised Laghu Udyog Bharati for supporting more than 980 industrial units, generating employment, aiding entrepreneurs, and contributing to the vision of a self-reliant India. “Small-scale industries are the backbone of the economy. Currently, seven out of ten formal-sector jobs in Odisha come from these enterprises. They not only contribute economically but also socially,” he said.

CM Majhi

Highlighting Odisha’s culture of innovation and enterprise, Majhi welcomed LUB’s plan to open an office in Bhubaneswar, which he said will strengthen industry-government collaboration at district and grassroots levels. Reiterating the government’s flagship program, “Developed Odisha, Developed India,” he stated, “This is not just a slogan; it is our promise to make Odisha the MSME gateway of Eastern India.”

CM Majhi

Speaking about the success of Odisha’s MSME sector, the Chief Minister cited examples of global recognition for artisans from Pipili, Raghurajpur, Sambalpur, and Gopalpur. He also noted the growing presence of youth in IT, animation, fintech, and startups. Women-led self-help groups (SHGs) are exporting products internationally, while the Subhadra Yojana is helping rural women become financially self-reliant. To date, 17 lakh households have benefited from the initiative.

CM Majhi

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Minister Gokulananda Mallik said Odisha is advancing steadily on the development path. “Our focus on promoting indigenous products, empowering MSMEs, supporting artisans, and strengthening local supply chains will reshape the state’s economic landscape in the coming years,” he added.

The event was attended by Madhusudan Dadu, All India President of Laghu Udyog Bharati; Prakash Chandra, Organising Secretary; and Gopal Das Agrawal, President of LUB Odisha chapter, among others.
