Bhubaneswar: Police on Sunday busted an illegal arms manufacturing unit at Godipada village under Ranpur police station in Nayagarh district, arresting two persons in connection with the case.

The arrested accused have been identified as Tofan Nayak alias Gudu (21) and Prasant Biswal alias Panda (45), both residents of Nayagarh district. The case has been registered as Ranpur PS Case No. 357 dated 29.11.2025 under Sections 109(1), 351(3), 132(3)(5) BNS, 2023 read with Sections 25(1a), 27, and 29 of the Arms Act.

According to police, Inspector Dharmendra Sial and his team, while patrolling near Baunsagad Square in the evening, stopped Tofan riding a blue Hero HF Deluxe (Reg. OD 25L9196). A country-made pistol was recovered from his motorcycle, and Nayak failed to provide any valid documents for its possession.

Acting on Nayak’s information, police raided the house of Prasant Biswal at Godipada, where they found him manufacturing firearms on the roof of his house. Biswal brandished a country-made gun and attacked ASI M.K. Digal, causing a neck injury. Police successfully overpowered and apprehended him.
