Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday directed the administration to take comprehensive measures for the development, security and promotion of the Shri Jagannath culture associated with Puri Gobardhan Peeth.
Majhi gave the direction while chairing a high-level meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan with representatives of the Peeth, where issues relating to its spiritual significance, properties, security and overall development were discussed.
The Chief Minister laid particular emphasis on the daily ‘Sandhya Mahodadhi Aarti’ held on the beach near Swargadwar in Puri. He said the Aarti site should be beautified and the evening ritual organised on a grander scale. He also directed the administration to develop the entire Puri beach as a magnificent spiritual beach.
Discussing the long-pending land and property-related issues of Gobardhan Peeth, Majhi called for a comprehensive re-examination of old land settlement records to find a permanent solution. He also directed officials to strengthen security arrangements for Jagadguru Shankaracharya and the Peeth premises.
The meeting also discussed measures for the protection and conservation of the sacred samadhi sites of the previous Acharyas of Gobardhan Peeth. Necessary facilities for the proper management of Shri Gobardhan Goshala within the Math premises and the overall development of its surrounding areas were also taken up.
Revenue Minister Suresh Pujari, Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, sadhus and saints of Gobardhan Peeth and senior government officials participated in the discussions.
Chief Secretary Anu Garg, Development Commissioner D K Singh, Additional Chief Secretary Hemant Sharma, Chief Administrator of Shree Jagannath Temple Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee, Law Secretary Pabitra Mohan Samal, Puri Collector Dibyajyoti Parida and Puri SP Prateek Singh were among those present.
Gobardhan Peeth’s Vyavastha Pramukh Praffulla Chaitanya Maharaj, Aditya Bahini Chief and Peeth representative Matru Prasad Mishra and other senior functionaries of the Peeth also attended the meeting.
