CM Majhi Honours Sanitation Workers On Gandhi Jayanti & Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’s Anniversary

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi honoured sanitation workers of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on the 155th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi and Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’s 10th anniversary.

At a special event organized at Swaminanathan Hall of OUAT, Majhi praised sanitation workers’ tireless efforts, keeping the environment clean and citizens healthy. He expressed gratitude, recognising their vital contribution to society.

Majhi showered flowers on the workers to honour their commitment and contribution to the environment.

The Chief Minister mentioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Ma Ke Naam’ program, aiming to plant 5 crore trees in Odisha, with 4 crore 40 lakh already planted.

Majhi highlighted Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’s impact, transforming the nation’s cleanliness. He acknowledged Bhubaneswar Metropolitan Corporation’s initiatives, including cleanliness drives and waste management.

The CM said that not only Bhubaneswar or Odisha, but the entire country is now moving towards complete cleanliness through Swachta Abhiyan.

If Bhubaneswar has maintained a special place for sanitation in the country, it is only possible for these sanitation workers, the CM added.

The Chief Minister honoured five sanitation workers and emphasized citizens’ responsibility in maintaining cleanliness. They are Sukanti Singh, Janaki Behera, Abhimanyu Gochhayat, Rama Naik and Sarat Naik.

Union Minister Bhupender Yadav and Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan also spoke, emphasizing the significance of recognizing the contributions of sanitation workers and manual labourers.
