Bhubaneswar: Three newly elected Rajya Sabha members from Odisha took oath today in the Upper House, with the proud distinction of taking the oath in their mother tongue, Odia.

The three MPs who took the oath in Odia are Manmohan Samal (BJP), Dilip Kumar Ray (BJP-supported Independent), Santrupt Misra (BJD). However, the fourth elected member from Odisha, Sujeet Kumar, did not take the oath today. The reason for his absence from the oath-taking ceremony is not yet known.

The oath was taken in the presence of Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan. Deputy Chairman Harivansh and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju were present during the ceremony in the Rajya Sabha chamber.
Rajya Sabha Chairman administered the oath of office and secrecy to the three newly elected members from Odisha in the Parliament House.

The Rajya Sabha elections for four seats from Odisha were held on March 16, 2026. In the election, BJP’s State President Manmohan Samal and Sujeet Kumar won on BJP tickets, while Dilip Kumar Ray won as an Independent candidate supported by BJP. From the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), Santrupta Misra emerged victorious.
