CM Majhi Lauds Red Cross Volunteers On World Red Cross Day

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Thursday extended heartfelt gratitude to Red Cross volunteers, commending their unwavering spirit and humanitarian service, particularly during times of crisis and natural disasters.

In a message shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), the Chief Minister praised the selfless dedication of the volunteers and acknowledged their vital role in providing relief and support in vulnerable situations.

“On #WorldRedCrossDay, we salute the unwavering spirit of the Red Cross volunteers who bring hope and healing to those in need. In #Odisha, we deeply value their selfless service—especially during disasters, when their courage and compassion shine the brightest. Let us continue to support humanitarian efforts and uphold the ideals of humanity, neutrality, and voluntary service that the Red Cross represents. #OdishaCares,” the CM wrote.

World Red Cross Day is observed every year on May 8 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Henry Dunant, the founder of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the first recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.

The day serves as a tribute to the efforts of Red Cross volunteers and staff who work tirelessly to support communities across the globe in times of need.
