Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Monday attended the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the Brahma Kumaris Institute at Janata Maidan and officially launched the organisation’s “Prosperous Odisha, Golden Odisha” campaign.
Addressing the gathering, Majhi said that the 50-year journey of the Brahma Kumaris is “not merely a passage of time, but a journey of awakening humanity, promoting spiritual upliftment, and rendering divine service.”
He said that a spiritual lifestyle encourages simplicity, humility, and frugality, enabling individuals to use natural resources judiciously. Praising Brahma Kumaris Sister BK Shivani, the Chief Minister said she has earned a prominent place in the country’s spiritual sphere due to her “renunciation and spirit of service.”
Majhi noted that the Brahma Kumaris are helping millions overcome depression, addiction and emotional distress through their focus on stress management and emotional well-being. The organisation is also contributing to women’s empowerment and the promotion of social values, he added.
The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the Golden Jubilee would mark the beginning of a global movement, spreading the message of world peace from Mount Abu to New York and from Nairobi to London. He said coordinated efforts by the state government and the Brahma Kumaris would bring “meaningful and positive change” to society.
Highlighting the relevance of Raj Yoga and meditation in public administration, Majhi said these practices instill discipline and compassion—qualities essential for good governance.
“When the administration functions with empathy, people develop trust, strengthening the moral fabric of society,” he said, adding that the government aims to make Odisha prosperous and developed by 2036.
Law, Works and Excise Minister Prithviraj Harichandan, who was present at the event, said the Brahma Kumaris have been working for five decades to reform society and foster peace and harmony.
The programme was attended by Ekamra Bhubaneswar MLA Babu Singh, former minister Arabinda Dhali, Sister BK Shivani, Dr. Banarasi Bhai, Shaktiraj Bhai and Gita Didi of the Brahma Kumaris Bhubaneswar branch.
