Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of renowned vocalist Geeta Patnaik, describing her death as an ‘irreplaceable loss’ to the state’s music and culture.
In a condolence message, Majhi prayed for the departed soul’s eternal peace and offered his deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.
“Deeply saddened to learn of the passing of the renowned vocalist Geeta Patnaik. Her departure is an irreplaceable loss to Odisha’s music and culture. In this hour of grief, I convey my deepest condolences to the bereaved family members, while praying to Lord Shri Jagannath for the eternal peace of the departed soul,” read his post.
It is pertinent to note that Patnaik experienced uneasiness while attending a literary meeting in Bhubaneswar on February 12 night. She was immediately rushed to Capital Hospital around 1 am, and later shifted to a private hospital in Cuttack at 3 am, where she was admitted to the ICU. Despite medical efforts, she suffered cardiac arrest and died at around 6:18 pm on Sunday.
