Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed his deep sorrow over the demise of former Congress MLA Akshaya Kumar Acharya.

CM also prayed for the peaceful repose of the departed soul and offered condolences to the bereaved family.

“Deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former MLA Akshaya Acharya. I express my condolences to the bereaved family and pray to Lord Sri Jagannath for the peaceful repose of the departed soul. Om Shanti,” read Majhi’s social media post.

It is worthwhile to mention that Acharya had been suffering from cancer for a long time and was undergoing treatment in Bombay. However, his health suddenly deteriorated in the wee hours of Friday, and he was subsequently taken to a nearby hospital in Nilgiri. He was then shifted to the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital, where he passed away while undergoing treatment there.
