Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has instructed the Additional Chief Secretary of the Home Department and the Director General of Police (DGP) to take stringent actions against those involved in violence against women. His directive comes in response to the recent concerns expressed by the President of India regarding the growing incidents of violence against women.
Chief Minister Majhi emphasized that ensuring the safety of women and delivering swift justice to victims of gender-based violence are top priorities for the state government. This commitment is aligned with the principles of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagrik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam.
To enforce these priorities, Majhi directed that all legal procedures, from the registration of FIRs to the rapid investigation and prosecution of accused individuals, must be conducted in strict accordance with the law. He also mandated that police officers receive appropriate training where necessary.
Furthermore, the Chief Minister called for a state-level police conference focused on women’s safety to be organized soon.
He reiterated the state government’s zero-tolerance policy towards violence against women and stressed that exemplary action should be taken against any police officer found neglecting their duty to ensure justice for women.
