Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is set to launch the Odisha Antyodaya Gruha Yojana 2025, an ambitious housing scheme, in Kalahandi district on March 30, official sources said.
The initiative aims to benefit 50,000 people, including the disabled, widows, and people suffering from various diseases. Apart from these groups, families of martyrs and Padma Shri awardees will also benefit from the scheme.
Additionally, a household survey to identify beneficiaries will continue until March 31, Panchayati Raj and Rural Development Minister Rabi Narayan Naik said. Around 19 lakh people have already registered their names to participate in the survey, and more registrations are expected. The Odisha Antyodaya Gruha Yojana is a unique scheme of the Odisha government for the poor in the state.
The Panchayati Raj Minister stated that the Chief Minister had already mentioned this scheme in the annual budget, which will be implemented through the Panchayati Raj Department. Following the decisions made in the last Cabinet meeting, several major steps have been taken to connect a large number of poor people to the housing scheme.
A programme will be organised in Kalahandi district on March 30, and at least 50,000 people will be included in the Antyodaya Gruha Yojana, the Panchayati Raj Minister said. Eligible beneficiaries of the housing scheme can check the status of their application and other details through the PIO (Panchayat Extension Officer) and BDO (Block Development Officer), the Minister said.
