Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for highlighting the success story of Hirod Patel, a young farmer from Sundargarh district, in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme.
Patel’s shift from traditional paddy cultivation to an integrated farming system, including fish farming and cultivation of creeper vegetables, banana, and coconut, has been appreciated by the Prime Minister Modi.
Majhi praised Patel’s achievement, saying it’s an example of transformation in the agriculture sector and is inspiring other farmers in the state to adopt modern farming practices. He also thanked the PM for encouraging the hard work of Odisha’s farmers at the national level, which will help build a prosperous agricultural state.
Taking to his X handle, CM Majhi wrote: “Heartfelt thanks to the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri @narendramodi for appreciating the inspiring journey of Hirod Patel, a young farmer from Ratanpur village in Sundargarh district, in the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme.”
His post further read: “Starting from traditional paddy cultivation and moving towards an integrated farming system that includes fish farming, creeper vegetables, banana and coconut cultivation, the success that Hirod has achieved is an excellent example of transformation in the agriculture sector. This success story is instilling new awareness and confidence among the farmers of our state, while also reflecting their growing interest in modern agriculture. Hardworking young people like Hirod are today giving agriculture a new direction, which will help build Odisha into a ‘prosperous agricultural state’ in the days to come. Once again, on behalf of the people of the state, I express my gratitude to the respected Prime Minister for encouraging the hard work of our farmer brothers and sisters at the national level.”
